EN 14458 sets the requirements for face shields and eye protectors mounted on or used with a firefighter's helmet. These products face harsher thermal testing than EN 166 requires, because they have to work in fire conditions.

A visor must always be assessed together with the helmet it is intended for. Fitted to another manufacturer's helmet it is no longer a certified assembly.
