EN 14058 complements EN 342: it covers single garments (rather than complete ensembles) used at temperatures above −5 °C. That is the range in which a great deal of work actually takes place — a chilled warehouse, a night shift outdoors, early spring.

The practical difference from EN 342: an EN 14058 garment is usually thinner and more flexible, which makes it more workable day to day. It is often combined with EN ISO 20471 — a high-visibility insulated jacket for roadworks is a typical product.
