EN 1150 covers visibility clothing not intended for the workplace: school waistcoats, children's jackets, cycling accessories, sportswear. Since the wearer is often a child, the area requirements are scaled to body size.
Differences from EN ISO 20471
- Minimum areas are much smaller — 0.10 m² of background and 0.05 m² of retroreflective material.
- Combined-performance material, both fluorescent and retroreflective, is permitted.
- The colour range is wider and there is more design freedom.
An important warning: EN 1150 clothing is not adequate for the workplace. Anyone working on a road or a construction site needs EN ISO 20471. The distinction is often overlooked when cheap waistcoats are bought in.
