Firefighters' helmets for wildland firefighting

A lighter helmet for open-country fires, where the risks are prolonged radiant heat, falling branches and fatigue rather than flashover.

Wildland firefighting has a different risk profile from structural work: there is no flashover, but there are many hours of physical exertion, radiant heat, falling branches and rough terrain. EN 16471 is written for that profile.

  • Substantially lighter than an EN 443 helmet, to reduce fatigue over a long shift.
  • Increased ventilation, to limit heat stress in hot, dry conditions.
  • Protection against radiant heat, brief flame exposure, falling objects and penetration.

The helmet may be supplied in Type A or Type B configuration, with integrated or removable face and eye protection conforming to EN 14458.
